Above all, anything taught at Hope Lutheran School will be consistent with Biblical truth and the doctrine of the LCMS. As a private Christian center school, Hope has a challenging, engaging, and relevant curriculum informed by best practices and innovations from both public and private schools.
As the discussion around Common Core State Standards (CCSS) continues, it is important to clarify the role that standards have in a school. Standards do not dictate how to teach, or what specific materials to include in a course of study. The CCSS is a set of standards, not a curriculum.
Here at Hope, when the CCSS aligns with what we want our students to know and be able to do, we use the same language. Where they do not, we will exercise our ability to create our own standards. We also draw upon content area experts such as the National Council for Social Studies and the International Society for Technology in Education. Regardless of the language used, whether CCSS or not, the standard developed and promoted by Hope will never run contrary to God’s Word.
We use God’s Word, emerging research, established best practices, and our expertise, among other things to guide the development of our curriculum. It is at the curriculum level that discussions are made about learning materials (textbooks and novels) and learning activities (projects and assignments). The curriculum is taught by teachers who love Jesus and who are on the frontline in helping students develop their relationship with their Savior.
Student/teacher ratio is approximately 14:1.
Small class sizes alone will not guarantee a child’s education will be superior, however, our exemplary teachers go above and beyond, striving to deliver interesting lessons that ensure curricular content is well-learned rather than merely checked off a list of state standards.

The days of lecture only lessons are gone. Children live in a world where information is freely available online. Love for learning still exists in all children, but it needs to be reinforced with hands-on activities and technology. Hope Lutheran School offers students the opportunity to work with a variety of different devices at all grade levels to enhance their learning experience and build real-life skills.
Continuing Christ's Mission to Make Disciples
We wouldn’t be a Christian school without daily devotions and religion classes. At Hope Lutheran all children are taught God’s word. It permeates each subject and is not confined merely to daily classroom devotions, the religion period, or weekly chapel services. Working through the Word, the Holy Spirit plants and nourishes faith in the hearts of Hope teachers and students. The demands of God’s law are realized, but more importantly, the saving Gospel offers comfort. Children are urged to make the very best use of their God-given abilities. Through our teaching, we try to prepare them to become responsible stewards of the unique gifts God has given them, and in so doing, the Holy Spirit enables them to lead a joy-filled Christian life that becomes a thanksgiving to God.
